With watery eyes, Alyson blinked until she could see again as she pulled back out onto the highway. She dropped her phone into her lap and kept her foot pressed on the gas pedal. There were less cars the further she drove, and the distance between them was longer. Alyson’s eyes burned, but the adrenaline rushing through her kept her them open.
